Centrosome divides

Centrosome provides the mechanical framework which enables the division of the cell. It divides prior to the cell division. From the centrosomes originate the microtubules which pull chromosomes apart and push the centrosomes apart (spindle microtubules). The astral microtubules (shown in the initial phase of this animation) protrude radially from the centrosomes.
